Incorporated as a city in 1913, Bunnell is the oldest city in the county and serves as the County Seat for the government of Flagler County. The record setting growth of Flagler County has awakened this town to the opportunities that new business and increased population can bring.
Adopting the theme of "The Crossroads of Flagler County," Bunnell has moved forward with annexation of neighboring property. New shopping centers are being developed, recreation facilities are being upgraded and new ones are planned. The city is embarking on a Main Street program that will bring the theme of "Crossroads" to reality. Major highways SR 100 and US 1 intersect (or we should say cross) at the center of downtown Bunnell.
Once the centerpiece of Flagler County with the construction in 1885 of the first rail spur in the area serving a cypress shingle mill, Bunnell remains the centerpiece of county government and a hub of activity to the western population of Flagler County.
As a recent addition to the city, Flagler County government recently built a brand new county courthouse and county municipal building.
