The 2010 Evenings at Whitney Lecture Series speaker for April is Sndrew Stamper, D.V.M, Seaworld. Tonight's lecture is "Ocean Acidification: The Other Shoe for Climate Change. What could happen, what is likely, and what should we be doing?". Evenings at Whitney usually occur the first or second Thursday of each month, depending on the speaker and are always held at 7:00 p.m. in the Whitney Lab's Center for Marine Studies. Run, jog or walk... the choice is yours at the Third Annual "Run for Your Life" 5K Run/Walk presented by the Palm Coast Chamber of Commerce. This popular event to raise funds for educational scholarships will take place April 17 at 8 a.m. in Town Center's Central Park. Race day registration begins at 6:45 a.m. and ends promptly at 7:45 a.m.
Registration forms are available at the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates (20 Airport Road, Suite C). Pre-Registration is $15 per person and ends on April 14; race day registration will be $20 per person, which includes a t-shirt and goody bag . You can also register online or by download the form from the Chamber's website. Professional Champion Chip timing will be provided.
The beautiful, accurately measured racecourse will take runners through Town Center, the heart of Palm Coast. The event is ideally located five minutes off exit 284 of I-95. Head west on State Road 100, past Florida Hospital Flagler, Hilton Garden Inn and Tom Gibbs Chevrolet, turn right at Bull Dog Drive and follow the signs to Town Center.
Whether you are an accomplished marathon runner or a couch potato looking for a challenge, all ages are encouraged to participate. Kids are definitely welcome; ages nine and under are free, and there will be a complimentary quarter-mile kids' fun run starting at 9 a.m.
Light refreshments will be provided for runners/walkers after the event. Participants should enter Central Park through the Bulldog Drive entrance off S.R. 100, next to Flagler Palm Coast High School.

Mark your calendar for the annual "Taste of Flagler" on Monday, May 3. The sell-out event is a popular tradition with locals eager to sample creations prepared by Flagler's leading chefs. The cost is $25 per members and $35 for nonmembers.

This year, the not-to-be-missed experience will be held once again at The Conservatory at Hammock Beach Resort. More than a dozen local chefs, restaurateurs and caterers will dish up "what's cooking" in their kitchens, and share tastes of their signature dishes. Tickets for this extraordinary event go on sale in late March.
