Potato Days
For years, farmers have grown potatoes in Flagler County as a staple of the rural agricultural Western portion of the area and for years was among the state’s leading producers of the potato, which from Flagler are used primarily for potato chips. Potato farming grew in importance as rail transportation provided access to markets to the north back in the early 1900s. Although agricultural centers in Flagler County have expanded their crops to grow both cabbage and sod, the potato still remains an important agricultural feature.

The Bunnell Chamber of Commerce decided it is time to celebrate the potato by organizing the Inaugural 2008 Potato Festival on November 15-16. The event will be fun for the entire family with a carnival and games for children, arts and crafts, and – of course – potatoes. The event will be free and open to the public in downtown Bunnell.
