Palm Coast Chamber to Host Block Party
Feb 24 – Join the Palm Coast Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors for a block party on Wednesday, March 10. The party will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Shops at Palm Harbor, north of Palm Coast Parkway off Old Kings Road. Some participating businesses include Chamber members Chez Jacqueline, The Goldsmith of Palm Coast, Granny Nannies and Picture Perfect Frames.

Need Help with Financial Aid Forms?
Feb 1 – The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates has thirty trained volunteers ready to help local high school students and their families capture a share of more than $145 billion in federal financial aid available.

Chamber Scholarship Applications Available
Jan 27 – Applications are now being accepted for the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates annual Scholarship Program. Seniors from Flagler Palm Coast High School and Matanzas High School will have an opportunity to compete for a total of six scholarships from the Flagler County Chamber Foundation, Bunnell Chamber and Palm Coast Chamber. These scholarships may be used for educational programs of study leading to a degree or professional certificate during the 2010-2011 academic year. The deadline for applications is March 12, 2010.

Festival Funds Go To Princess Place Preserve
Jan 22 – Funds from the fifth annual Creek Side Festival will help pay for improvements at the Princess Place Preserve in Flagler County.

Jan 4 – The 2010 Flagler Chamber Phone Book is available and will be delivered to your business and home between now and January 19. If you don’t receive a copy by January 22, stop by the Chamber and grab a copy!

Now Accepting Applications for Leadership Flagler XVIII
Dec 29 – Until January 30, the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates will accept applications for its Leadership Flagler program. Leadership Flagler develops leaders to maximize their ability and desire to become involved and help Flagler County thrive. The three-month program focuses on several aspects of the community including: business, government, health & human services, art & culture, agriculture and growth management. Through education and networking, Leadership Flagler provides tools and experiences necessary to the development of well-rounded community leaders.

Staff Addition & Changes at the Chamber
Dec 29 – The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates recently added Christine Gardner to its staff as Information Specialist. Effective immediately, Christine is the friendly voice you hear each time you call the Chamber. In this capacity, she meets and greets all visitors, manages the online calendar of events, helps book and prepare for in-house events and performs as-needed administrative tasks.

Feed Flagler, A Successful Endeavor
Dec 10 – Feed Flagler, a community wide effort launched by Flagler County, turned out to be a rousing success on several levels, just not exactly as planned by the steering committee.

Feed Flagler Ready To Serve Up A Meal
Nov 23 – So your entire family is coming over to your house for Thanksgiving and you are worried because you are cooking for 12 people? Take heart, Jason Hall Certified Executive Chief, is cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for for 2,000 for the Feed Flagler program this Wednesday. That’s 100 turkeys, 50 hams 2,400 beverages, 13 cases of corn, 13 cases of green beans and what’s a Thanksgiving dinner without cranberry sauce and pies?

Laura Gamba Joins Chamber as Tourism Marketing Coordinator
Nov 5 – The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates recently added Laura Gamba to its staff as tourism marketing coordinator. In this capacity, she will work with Peggy Heiser, Vice President of Tourism Development on marketing initiatives to raise visibility for Flagler County as a tourism destination.

Feed Flagler Project Underway
Nov 3 – A cross section of Flagler County leaders are getting together to address world hunger by starting in their own back yard. The program called Feed Flagler, is undertaking the task of feeding 2,000 hungry folks the day before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Although it is not the first community meal offered in the county during the holidays, it is certainly the largest.

Chamber & Enterprise Flagler to Host Annual “Unity in the Community” Dinner
Oct 19 – The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates and Enterprise Flagler have teamed to host “Unity in the Community,” a dinner to celebrate the positive partnership between the Chamber and Enterprise Flagler on Thursday, October 29. The event will include the installation of Enterprise Flagler’s new board of directors and a silent auction.

Commercial Crime Prevention Workshop Offered
Sep 9 – “Cutting Your Losses: A Crime Prevention Workshop” is being offered by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and Target in a partnership with the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates. The luncheon workshop is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, at 11:30 a.m. at the Chamber Building on State Road 100.

Local Groups Collaborate to Launch New Community Web Portal
Sep 3 – In August, the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates, Special FX Marketing and The Flagler Broadcasting Company, LLC (owners of WNZF 1550 AM and Beach 92.7 FM) joined forces to promote www.FlaglerFocus.com, a new information source featuring the latest in local news, events and opinions. This new community web portal was created with one goal in mind – supporting the local economy.

Inaugural Potato Festival Cook-Off Winners Announced
May 19 – The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates are pleased to announce this year’s Beef & Potato Cook Off winners. A volunteer group of judges (Bunnell’s Mayor Catherine Robinson, Bunnell Elementary principal Richard DuPont and Joseph Bonasia, owner of State Street Diner) reviewed all six entries and presented winners with trophies on Saturday, May 16.

A Collection of Good Will From Leadership Flagler XVII
May 13 – The Leadership Flagler XVII class urges Flagler and Volusia County residents to bring canned goods to one of several locations throughout the county this week. Members of the class have set up stations around the county to accept donations to benefit the Flagler County Resource Center and the Salvation Army food bank.

Flagler County Celebrates National Tourism Week, May 9 to 17

Bunnell Festival To Celebrate Local Agricultural Heritage
Apr 9 – Thanks to the Bunnell Chamber of Commerce and the City of Bunnell, the potato will finally have its day in the sun! The Chamber will host Bunnell’s Inaugural Potato Festival, May 14 to 17, 2009, an event guaranteed to “a-peel” to kids of all ages while celebrating Bunnell's agricultural roots.

Mar 30 – Race towards a healthier lifestyle in the second annual “Run for Your Life” 5K Run/Walk. This race presented by the Palm Coast Chamber of Commerce will take place on April 18 at 8 a.m. in Town Center’s Central Park. Race day registration begins at 6:45 a.m. and ends promptly at 7:45 a.m.

Chamber Receives Award for Work with Local Schools
Feb 27 – The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates was selected by the Flagler County School District to receive the Florida Department of Education Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award for outstanding partnership activities. Each year the Florida Education Foundation and Florida Department of Education recognize businesses that have “shown outstanding commitment to improving education by partnering with schools in their communities.”

Packs for Backs to Support Needy Students
Feb 4 – The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates, Flagler County Education Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Volusia & Flagler County need your help to raise $25,000 for local students in need. The organizations have teamed up to provide 1,000 free backpacks loaded with school supplies to needy students in Flagler County.
